Corwin Smidt (who didn't write the article, but who is the focus of the article) was 2 years below me in high school, but we both went through several of the same political science classes at Calvin College.
I'm not sure how his politics have evolved since I last met him, but back in our Calvin days I remember him as a conservative, but a very intelligent conservative.
