In my continuing
efforts to mix in some historical knowledge with the extensive reading program,
we did Mutiny on the Bounty in my
classes. I think my students enjoyed it, but what I know for sure is that I really
found this story fascinating. It was
interesting to get some of the historical background on the true story behind the movie.
Teaching Materials
[This book contained a glossary at the back for words that might be problematic for students. On the first day, I had the class read through the glossary, then on subsequent days I made matching exercises for the words in the glossary. I know this is all terribly boring and uncreative, but my theory was something was better than nothing when it came to the vocabulary. With this book in particular, because there was just so much vocabulary in the glossary, I feed some of this into a crossword puzzle maker to try and make it more interesting.]
