Okay, you'll have to forgive me for this, but...
Recently I've been getting curious about how many books I average a year.
I've been doing yearly wrap ups since 2014:

* 2014 -41.5 books
* 2015--16 books
* 2016--6 books
* 2017--26 books
* 2018--15 books
* 2019--6 books
* 2020 --11 books
* 2021--26 books

…but no yearly wrap ups since before 2014.  Now, I've been keeping track of all the books I've read since 2006, but no yearly wrap ups for 2006 to 2013.

Well, I thought, if I want to see what my yearly totals are for those years, that's easily enough remedied.  It's just a matter of copying and pasting the books from the list I'm already keeping, and then dividing it up by year for 2006 to 2013.

So, with apologies to loyal readers of this blog, I'm going to spam you over the next 8 days as I post my yearly totals for those missing years.

2006 was the year I started reviewing books on this blog.  According to my post on January 21, 2006, I had also read Rock This by Chris Rock in the month of January before starting my review project.  So I guess this should technically read 67 books for 2006, but I'm only going to count the reviews.

This list also contains a lot of audiobooks.  This was back when I was full on in love with audiobooks, before I became skeptical of them.  

As the years went by, I would become more and more worried that I was missing stuff when I listened to audiobooks.  So I would later develop a policy of listening to audiobooks 3 or 4 times before I allowed myself to write a review.  But 2006 was before I had that policy.

But that being said, my life in 2006 was spent half in Japan, half in America.  The only audiobooks I was able to listen to in Japan were the ones I owned.  (Either ones I actually paid money for, or ones I copied from friends.)  And so all of those audiobooks I would eventually listen to multiple times.  I only listened to them one time before writing my review (so my reviews are probably all suspect), but after reviewing them, I kept them all in my apartment and I would eventually listen to all of them multiple times over.  (Audiobooks were expensive back in those days.  If I'm going to pay $40 for an audiobook of Crime and Punishment, you'd better believe I'm planning on listening to it several times.)

Once I got back to America, then all the audiobooks I reviewed were borrowed from the public library.  So I only listened to them once, and then returned them and checked out a new audiobook.

Because I think it makes a difference in how well I absorbed the book, I've marked all of this information on the list above--which ones were audiobooks, and of the audiobooks, which ones did I listen to multiple times, and which ones did I only listen to once.
