I was looking for a Kahoot to practice prepositions of place. Once again, it turns out there are already a lot of good Kahoots out there for this topic.  But in my case, I was looking for something which would complement the words I had taught in this lesson here.  

I found one kahoot here which was pretty close to what I wanted, and I modified it with my own adaptations here.

I was looking for a Kahoot to practice prepositions of movement. It turns out there are a lot of good prepositions of movement Kahoots out there.  You can search the site yourself and find some of them.

In my case, however, I wanted to find a Kahoot that focused specifically on the prepositions of movement that I had taught in this lesson here.  

I found one kahoot here which was pretty close to what I wanted, and I modified it with my own adaptations here.

Notes: These are materials for verb or noun + preposition collocations.  This was originally created to supplement p.74 exercise 1a of Expert IELTS 6, and the specific words in these materials reflect the words from that textbook exercise (source of, phase of, link to, expert on, designed by, symbol of, version of and available to).  However, I think these materials can also stand independently of the textbook, for any teacher who wants to do a lesson on collocations with verbs and nouns plus prepositions.  So I am posting the materials here.

Staging is as follows:

* Lead-in: Students talk about a time they used a map

* Prediction: Display photo on projector.  Get students to predict what the boy is using the map for

* Specific Information Questions: Give students a copy of the model text (page four) and the specific information questions (page 1)

* Noticing Activity: Match the Words to the Text: Remove the model text from students.  Give students a copy of the model text with the key vocabulary blanked out (page 2).  Students must then reconstruct the text using a running dictation.  

* Clarification of Meaning: Display the model text on the projector with the target vocabulary underlined (page 3).  Check that students understand the meaning use concept checking questions.  Next, match the words to the definitions with quizlet

* Clarify form and pronunciation

* Controlled Practice: Gap-Fill sentences: Kahoot game

* Semi-Controlled Practice: Make Sentences: quizziz game

In my classroom, I used this when I discovered (during a lesson on a completely separate grammar point) that my students did not know what prepositions or prepositional phrases were.

Upon discovering this, first I showed my students The Preposition Sing Along Song, then I did the Kahoot quiz linked to above, and finally we did some practice Diagramming Prepositional Phrases.  I found these activities to be a successful lesson.

I recently had to teach a lesson on prepositions of movement, and thought that this song illustrated the sentence structure very well.
The Super Simple English version linked above also gives additional sentence structures that were not in the original nursery rhyme, making it even more suited for illustrating prepositions of movement

Rosie's Walk by Pat Hutchins

(Graded Reader)

I was teaching a lesson from English World 2-- Grammar p.120 which required teaching the prepositions over, into, around, under and through, and I was looking for some way to put them all in a unified presentation.  While searching for images on Google, I stumbled upon this book. 
By looking at various images on websites, and Youtube videos, I was able to reconstruct this book and use it in my classroom as an introduction to the aforementioned prepositions.  But since it's a children's picture book, I'm also going to count it as one of my Story Time projects. 
It is also available on Amazon HERE. 

The book is designed to showcase several prepositions as Rosie the Hen walks under, around, through, past, and over various objects.  There's also a fox who is stalking her, who constantly gets foiled by the various objects Rosie walks around (reminiscent of like the Road Runner and the Coyote).

I'm not sure if the book was designed for ESL students specifically, but is was definitely designed to showcase a certain language feature.  And there are loads of teaching materials already online for this website.

I used this video to help teach prepositions.  (In my own classes, I used it to teach English World 2 Unit 12 p.120).
Sidenote: this has got to be one of the catchiest songs on prepositions that you will ever here.  After I used this song once in my classroom, it was stuck in my head for a weak.
