I've seen both versions and consider Craig's vehicle to be the better of the two. It felt dream-like, so the outrageous plot was convincing. But I think I preferred Noomi Rapace's Lisbeth Salander to Rooney Mara's.

At the end of the day I can't say I'm a fan of either movie. And I am no fan whatsoever of the books. I gave the first a hearty effort and abandoned it just past the halfway mark, at around page 500. My mother loved 'em though. Ripped through the entire batch, even the posthumous work of dubious origin.

What? Are these books seriously over 1000 pages? And here's me thinking they're just airport thriller novels.
...actually that kind of makes me curious to check them out now.

You forced my hand: I had to check my notebook. The first novel is 480 pages and I finally bailed at 465.

You bailed with only 15 pages left to go? It must have really just exhausted all your patience in that case, I imagine.

I was pissed with myself for having read so much of it. I should have bailed after the first 100 pages really.

Yikes. Okay, I'll take that as definitely not a recommendation then.
