How many languages are spoken in your country?  What are they?

What is the majority language in your country?  What are the minority languages in your country?

Some people think that everyone in a country should speak only the majority language so that everyone can communicate easily.  Do you agree or disagree?  Why or why not?

Some people think that it is important to preserve minority languages.  Do you agree or disagree?  Why or why not?

Does the government do anything to preserve minority languages in your country?

Are you interested in learning any of the minority languages in your country? Why or why not?

Language is always changing over time.  In what ways has your native language changed during your lifetime?

Nowadays, English is considered the global language.  Some people think that having a global language is a good thing, because it makes it easier for people to communicate.  Other people think that having a global language is a bad thing, because it makes young people become less interested in their own country’s language.  What do you think?  Why?

Is English the best language to be the world’s global language.  Or can you think of another language that would make a better global language?  (Which language do you think would be easiest for everyone in the world to learn?)

Can you name any languages that are no longer spoken?

What would you do if you had to travel to a country where it's people don't know how to speak neither your language nor English?

What languages are spoken the most throughout the world?

Which do you think is the most difficult language?
