(grammar questions I couldn't answer)
During a speaking activity, a student was talking about her recent vacation, and how she combined visiting her parents and visiting her friends.
She said "I visited my parents combining with visiting my friends."
I corrected her and said she should say "combined". But I couldn't explain why.
