[Note: This vocabulary is based on the vocabulary from pages 20 and 21 of Oxford Picture Dictionary for the Content Areas.  But I believe this material could also be used independently for any lesson on jobs vocabulary, so I'm posting it here.  Because the lesson contained so many vocabulary words for jobs, I broke the vocabulary up into 2 different lessons, with 2 different presentations.  I originally tried to fit all the vocabulary words into one storybook, but that proved too crowded.  That storybook is here:  Elara’s Walk and the Working Town--created from this chat here.  I also experimented with creating a sequel, City Heroes, Special Skills--created from this chat here.  FYI: Google Gemini seemed to have a bit of a glitch, so the character designs preserved in the chats are different than the ones in the storybooks.  In the chats, at least at the time of posting, the character designs are consistent between the original story and the sequel, but not in the storybook links.]

[These activities were designed for students who had to describe their dream job for their end-of-term speaking test.  But I think it can stand on it's own as just an independent speaking activity as well.
As with every worksheet I make, time was a factor. (I only had one hour to get this thing ready before class.)  So I re-used the same jobs and the same PowerPoint from a previous activity on jobs I had done--Google Drive, Slides, Pub.  To this, I added another PowerPoint presentation for the new activities--Google Drive, Slides, Pub.  And a set of cards for the "Grab the Card" game--Google Drive, Docs, Pub.  And a "Guess my DreamJob" Mingle Worksheet--Drive, Docs, Pub.

Write down 5 sentences describing your dream job. Don’t write the name of your dream job. Also, don’t write the words similar to the name of the job. For example, if the job is “artist”, don’t write the word “art”.  If the job is “teacher”, don’t write the word” teach”.

Next, walk around the room.  Read these five sentences to your classmates.  Could they guess your job or not?

[This is an activity meant as a follow-up to my previous lesson on practicing nouns and adjectives for describing personality.
In this activity, first I show the students jobs on PowerPoint (Google: Drive, Slides, Pub).  Then, in their groups, they have to decide on three qualities necessary for each job. (Google: Drive, Docs, Pub)
Then, in new groups, they have to say which of their classmates would be best for each job, and why. (Google: Drive, Docs, Pub).]
