Numbers (From The Jerusalem Bible): Book Discussion

Started: November 19, 2023
Finished: December 29, 2023

(This is a reread.  I originally read this book in 7th grade.  But since this is my first time reviewing this book on this blog, according to my new rules, I'm doing this as a video only review.)

Numbers (The Jerusalem Bible): Book Discussion

I talked too long and I ended up getting cut off by my phone.  (My phone has about a limit of one hour video before the storage space is full.)  There are a few other things I wanted to talk about but that I didn't get around to, but I'm just going to let it go.  This is the Bible after all. No book has been discussed more.  There's nothing I could say that hasn't been said 100 times over by other people.

This book should have taken me only 2 days at best, but my gaming sabbath suddenly occurred.
- just asked chatgpt and nazirite vow seems redundant and whatever you do it for you might just try it by urself instead of consulting god
- nothing motivates reading of bible than watching a cringy anime episode (so you have to read bible to decringe yourself)
- god = tsundere proof: 11:1 - him burning people after getting angry due to complaints
- wait a minute, ppl in the books constantly complain about having nothing to eat, and god tells them to do all the unproductive craps?
- not much interesting stuff despite some important narratives
- 15:1 god:"okay now that ppl are defeated in battle due to defying me and bleeding out there, what do we do next now? right, thinking up some new laws
15:32-36 amusing part. i thought it was funny because it resembles some movie comedic movie scene that is like: some guy innocently gathers sticks, others notice him and gather around him, he widens his eyes, "what do we do now?", the guy's eyes look left-right-up-down, god: "stone him!", pap! pap!
- these books are like some analogy about how migrating from ur own country for a better life in another place wouldn't be as rosy as you may want it (why migrate if other countries turned out to contain bad stuff just like home)
- unrelated to this book but i just happen to wonder if the god who form covenant with Abraham/Israel lineage is lying and isn't actually the creation god. fun if true
- 20 is quite confusing. i almost missed that aaron and moses failed to uphold god if not for aaron's death passage. had to ask chatgpt a lot to make sense of it.
-lots of shounen battles this book, even better than the plagues, even though i don't like these
-should i say something about moses being given responsibilities to manage and take the people out of egypt, but ended up being got rid of in the future without reward? moses is "literally me"
- so enticing Israelites is a no no but capturing their virgins for later scientific usage is a yes yes.
- for some reason the niv version seems to read better/easier than esv
