(TESOL Worksheets--Speaking)
Google: docs, pub
[This was developed for online lessons, but could also be used for classroom. It was created to make some accountability for a speaking class in which students were reluctant to speak in the online class. It's a template that is copied over and edited it time with the names of the students (who are then also given editing access so that they can make the notes). It's for groups of 5 ideally, but can be increased to more by just adding extra columns for participants.]
Role | Description | Write student name in this column |
Leader | Ask the question to the participants. Make sure you ask questions to each of the participants. Make sure each of the participants does some talking. You do not need to ask questions to the reporter or the recorder. You do not need to answer the questions yourself. |
|
Participants | Answer the questions that the leader asks you. You do not need to write anything. Just talk. |
|
Reporter | Listen to the conversation. You don’t need to talk during the conversation, just listen. You don’t need to write anything. At the end, you will summarize the conversation and report it back to the teacher. You don’t need to tell the teacher everything that everyone said, just summarize the main ideas. |
|
Recorder | Listen to the conversation. You don’t need to say anything. Write down what each person says in answer to each question. You don’t need to write down everything they say, and you don’t need to write down their exact words. Just summarize their main ideas. |
