"Technical skills such as basic coding are being automated away", but that means people will be probed harder programming knowledge when they apply for such an agentic AI job (depends on the company after all, but those already wanted to hire somebody to use AI efficiently would likely want the person to know how to fix potential issues AI would cause). AI Automation if anything makes the CS degree more valuable (assuming the students studied it well - if it's not always has been). The knowledge will become even more important even though the headcounts not so much.
I don't know what "people's skills" are, but for people in fields like CS: unless you had time to spare, you wouldn't want to burn your time learning something those interview and work with you wouldn't care for. (Or, worse, would make you fail interviews easier due to the fixation on nice-sounding and lengthy rhetorics.)
Don't want to be dismissive towards somebody's random comment and would love to let it stand for what it is (their own view). It's just that life/internet is already overloaded with prescriptions that are deep down incompatible to each other (there will always be trade offs to everything).
...all these to say the least.
