Indochine: Movie Review

Links to stuff mentioned:

This is part of my so-called "Scripted Review" series, in which I make a Youtube video based on an old blogpost.  For more information on what this is and why I'm doing it, see HERE:
In this case, the old blog post is here: https://joelswagman.blogspot.com/2014/01/indochine.html

I have about more or less 5 variations of what I have to say, none of which related to the movie, all of which I have deleted again and again. But to give a one liner, perhaps it would be to say:
There's nothing wrong about narcissism, there's a lot of wrong with trying to export and impose it on people who don't call for it.

Or worse, trying to do that through means of falsehood, then eat up your own manipulations.

[I also deleted this twice, as none of this matters anyway and it's mostly on me and so it's not nice to let these out. But it's just really hard not to complain for the literal reason I mentioned. Spending time on English internet has never stopped being upsetting to me given that my own hobby is all the Japanese cutesy stuff and I always have to see people on this side of the internet trash-talking the whole genre constantly when the whole thing isn't even meant for them at all. Instead I have to hear how the revolting culture aspects practiced by the other side of the ocean to be touted and "no no you are having cultural misunderstandings, our senseless trash-talking (a.k.a banter) and lame jokes are actually good and you're supposed to imitate".

I utterly hate the type of people who are smug and think of themselves as special hot stuff. Another truth to be admitted being that I before exposure to English internet was completely clueless that it's even worse over there. I hated Vietnamese culture for the people who talk smugly about things they themselves don't have any proper grasp but love to spout armchair grandiose wise sage knowledge, and don't know how to have any discussion about a work without trash-talking. Ultimately it's all the same anywhere, most hobbies are solitary hobbies and I should have known better instead of trying to find people with the same hobbies online - ironic given that I have never been a socializing type IRL but I still strive to do that online, without knowing the dynamics and whatnot are just the same.

Hard not to feel envious of the blunt people who just spout whatever negative stuff they have on their mind (and I used to dislike them). Given that the special hot stuff types never take a no for a no. Not sure if it's because of my upbringing, where I'm not supposed to say any negative things to other people even if what they do are bad, is something that makes it really hard to deal with narcissists.

It sucks having to live in an impoverished culture that forces you to look outward, just then to navigate the bads of foreign cultures with difficulties, then your own countrymen are vindicated by the bad things and bring them back to your own culture.

Maybe if some of those people were any special, they wouldn't have needed to act special in the first place.]
