Blue Moon Ice-Cream Flavor--Interesting Random Facts

The other day, my brother-in-law informed me that Blue Moon ice-cream was only available in Michigan.
Interesting.  Having grown up in Michigan, and having always seen Blue Moon at the ice-cream shops, I naturally assumed it was just one of the established ice-cream flavors.  But apparently not.  Apparently it's just a local thing.
Wikipedia contradicts my brother-in-law slightly, by saying it is in the Upper-Midwest (not Michigan exclusively).
Blue moon is an ice cream flavor with bright blue coloring, available in the Upper Midwest of the United States. Multiple cities in the region claim to be the originator, with the popular theories including Plainwell, MichiganMilwaukee, Wisconsin; and Ludington, Michigan.[1][2] The Chicago Tribune has described the ice cream as "Smurf-blue, marshmallow-sweet"
Also, according to Wikipedia.
Blue moon ice cream is one of the flavors that make up Superman ice cream in certain states.[1][3]
Superman was another ice-cream flavor I remember as a kid, and had just assumed was universal.  But apparently, it's also from the Midwest.  Although in the case of Superman, Superman is now available nationally.  From Wikipedia
Superman ice cream is a three-flavor ice cream that usually appears in red, blue, and yellow. Although it originated in the Midwestern United States, particularly Michigan and Wisconsin, it can also be found in various ice cream parlors across the United States.
And another interesting thing: I always assumed the ice cream flavor was named after the Superhero, but apparently the name of the ice-cream predates the Superman comic book character.
Although the flavor originated before the debut of Superman in 1938, the tricolor combination is often thought to be named after the superhero character whose costume is composed of those colors. As the character's name was never officially licensed, most producers sell the flavor under different brand names to avoid potential trademark or copyright issues.
Well! You learn something new everyday, huh?

P.S.--Blue Moon was one of my favorite ice-cream flavors as a kid.  Superman as well.
