First things first: I didn't think much of this movie.

But I'm surprised I didn't comment on your original review, because anything cooked up by Sid and Marty Krofft was a YOOJ influence on my childhood. Thanks to the (Canadian!) Krofft bros we were exposed to trippy entertainments like H.R. Pufnstuf and Lidsville -- just two creations that were, without question, cooked up under the influence. They even took a crack at an indoor theme-park in Atlanta. Didn't work out so well, but people remember it.

Anyway, the TV shows were worse than the movie, but at the time an older uncle could get squiffy on a Saturday morning and babysit his brother's kids without losing it.

Yeah, by all accounts this show had a huge influence on people just slightly older than me. I remember reading all the reminiscing on the Internet back when this movie came out.
I had never heard of any of Sid and Marty's stuff before this movie. What a difference 10 years makes when you're a kid, huh?
