I've been seeing this sentiment on Facebook and Twitter a lot recently.  And while it's not wrong, I'm uncomfortable with the unspoken implication that often goes along with it--they deserve to get beat by the police. 
This is the kind of freedom to protest we want for all citizens.  We shouldn't be demanding that white protesters get treated like black protesters.  We should be demanding that black protesters get treated like white protesters.
