Saint Anne--Interesting Random Facts

One of the interesting things about reading The Brothers Grimm is that I'm picking up some tidbits about Catholic mythology.  I was just reading story 139 The Maid of Brakel, which talked about Mary and her mother Saint Anne.

Now, having been raised protestant, I never knew anything about a Saint Anne being the mother of Mary.  But I looked her up on Wikipedia, and sure enough, there's a whole apocryphal mythology around Saint Anne the mother of Mary.  I thought it was interesting that Saint Anne was not only in Catholic tradition, but also Muslim tradition.
