My Two Cents--This Whole Krysten Sinema Debacle Illustrates the Limits of Our Representative System

From the Philadelphia Inquirer: The trainwreck of Sen. Kyrsten Sinema is the cost of not getting money out of politics

Comment: I've mentioned on this blog a couple of times now (HERE and HERE) that we don't actually live in a Democracy the way the ancient Greeks would have thought of it.  It's true that we elect our rulers, but then it's also true that once we've finished the election, our participation in government is pretty much over, and there's nothing left for us to do other than to just be ruled.
And if our elected representatives don't do what we want them to do?  Well... tough luck, huh?
Nothing illustrates this problem to me more clearly than the current Krysten Sinema Debacle.
(PS--I'm not counting Joe  Manchin here, because it seems like he's actually pretty much in line with what his supporters want him to do--unfortunately, but that's the way it is.  But Krysten Sinema's supporters, on the other hand, seem to feel betrayed by her actions.  At least that's my impression from the articles I've been reading.)

Update: another article on the same theme, from Jacobin: How Big Pharma Flipped Kyrsten Sinema
