[In an effort to keep track of useful materials--so I can find it again when I need it--I'm collecting links to stuff that I've had good luck with using in class. I'm indexing it, along with my own materials, over here and here.
A colleague recently recommended to me the ice breakers from the website above. I used #4, Knights of the Round Table, in my class.
To facilitate this activity, I pre-made some worksheets. Multiple copies were printed, and students were allowed to pick which one they felt comfortable with.

- Knights of the Round Table
Students sit down in a circle. Each student should write their name on a piece of paper. The teacher then gives a command to pass their papers clockwise or counterclockwise (e.g. pass your paper 3 persons clockwise). A question is given pertaining to the person that they got.
Some of my favorite questions include:
- If this person won $1M, what do you think he/she will do?
- If this person were an animal, what would he/she be?
- If this person were a famous celebrity, who would he/she be?
- If this person were a person from a distant past, who would he/she be?
When the students get back their sheet of paper, they laugh at the answers. Sharing of answers is definitely recommended.
