Another practical consideration. I get the distinct impression that a lot of coursebooks seem to have money for only a few voice actors. When they want to have diversity in their listening, this leads to the voice actors just imitating accents that aren't their own.

Oh man, that is not good advice. Ask a bunch of older middle class people why their so successful. You'll never hear the end of it. He's got to at least give those kids some strategies for exiting the conversation.
