Overview:
Malaria is common & it leads to other health problems.

The diagrams illustrate the number of anti-malarial treatments per person in Kenya according to age, and also the impact that this disease has on these suffers.

Kenyans receive roughly between one and two treatments of anti-malarial drugs per year depending on their particular age. Children aged from five to fourteen receive the fewest doses, at just less than one annually. 15 to 29-year olds get slightly more than this, exactly one treatment per year. People aged between 45 and 59 are given an average of two treatments of the medicine each year.

People who catch Malaria are prone to several immediate and long term health problems. The most common immediate symptom is limb weakness, which around five percent of people will experience. Partial paralysis and visual impairment are experienced by 2.5 and 2.3 percent of sufferers, respectively. Difficulty speaking is the most common of the long-term effects and just over ten percent of people will have this problem.
