These are/ They are

(Grammar Questions I Couldn't Answer)

From a student speaking task:
"Today I'm going to talk about volunteer opportunities.  We have three options.  These are food program, take care of children program, and teaching English program."

My intuition is telling me "They are" is more appropriate here then "these are", but I can't think of what rule to tell my student.
