[This is a memory game designed to practice the simple past form of irregular verbs. The students have to match the present tense words with the past tense words.
A number grid is written up on the board.

The present tense words are written on paper cards. The cards are kept face down, and the student draws a card at random. Once they have a present tense verb, they try to match the verb with its corresponding past tense. They select a number. The teacher will read the past tense verb corresponding to that number. If the present tense verb and the past tense verb match, the student gets on point for their team. (The class is divided into two teams.) If not, the student must return their present tense card to the pile, and the other team will get a chance.
This activity is not entirely my own, but based off of the idea from Suzanne Woodward in the book Fun With Grammar. ]
