I use this blog for two different projects: my reviews and my materials for Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL).

This is one of those links that doesn't have a broader point, but it is interesting just for the sake of being interesting (for us History Geeks).
I don't really know much about the collapse of Bronze Age civilization. Most of my knowledge of it comes from the lecture Donald Kagan gave. This video talks about a lot of the same hypotheses that Donald Kagan bats around in his lecture.
I also didn't know this was apparently taking place at the same time as the Biblical story of the Exodus and the conquest of Canaan. Which he talks about briefly from about the 1:00 mark . He talks about the hypothesis that the conquest of Canaan wasn't really a conquest, but an internal rebellion. (The "internal rebellion" hypothesis was also discussed by Robin Lane Fox, who also mentioned it, but didn't believe it, although Robin Lane Fox thought it might have been part of the story.).
The guy in the video offers his own theory--that the Israelites were outside invaders, but they came in on the coattails of the destruction caused by the sea people.
It's an interesting hypothesis. But I have two problems with it.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that the problems with the "Israelites as outside conquerors" theory is that:
A) All archaeological evidence contradicts the conquest of Canaan story as told in the book of Joshua--there's no evidence for the destruction of the city of Jericho and other cities.
and
B) Ancient Hebrew language is closely related to the Canaanite language.
