Prediction: Trump Will Resign

Okay, so I've been absolutely wrong about all of my predictions this year.   But I'm still going to continue trying.  (Part of the fun of making predictions is seeing how horribly you get stuff wrong.)

This one I'm not 100% sure on.  It probably should be more of a question mark.  (Like: Trump will resign?  Maybe?)  But to hedge my bets would be to ruin the game.  So I'm going to go ahead and make this an affirmative prediction. I might be right, or I might be wrong, but I'm going with this one.

Here's my logic:

 I was reading a news article today, where a protester was quoted as demanding Trump step down for the good of the country.  And I thought, "No way, he's not going to do that."

But then I thought about it some more, and I thought, "Actually, he just might."

Think about it: right now, the Republican Party has everything they could dream for: they've got the Congress, they've got the Supreme Court, and they've got the Presidency.

Their only problem is that they've got a huge public relations disaster.  And this image problem could cause them some serious political damage down the road.
It's already giving them huge political damage just in terms of their image.  But it will also mean that fired up liberals and Democrats might be willing to fight Republicans on every single issue in a way that they might not fight an ordinary Republican President.

Plus, if the protests continue, the country might become ungovernable.  (Well, a man can dream at least.)

All those problems would disappear tomorrow if they somehow got rid of Donald Trump.  I mean, imagine if Donald Trump stepped aside, and Mike Pence became president.

Now, us liberals really hate Mike Pence because he's got a super right-wing agenda.  But to the average non-political American, Mike Pence doesn't have any of the anathema associated with  Donald Trump.  He's a religious nut, sure, but then so are many Americans.  And he's not associated with racist groups, he's not associated with sexual assault and pussy grabbing, and he didn't call Mexican immigrants drug dealers and rapists.

And, let's face it, deep down we liberals knew we would lose the White House to the Republicans eventually, anyway.  That's just the way politics works in a democracy.  It's cyclical.  If the Republican victory wasn't associated with the face of Donald Trump, I think everyone would calm down a lot more.

So, if the Republicans realize that all their problems will be over the minute Trump steps aside, I predict they might sit him down, and have some long, long talks with him about resigning.  Put in all the arm twisting.

Donald Trump likes going to rallies. He likes hearing people scream his name in ecstasy while calling for the imprisonment and death of his enemies. He likes going on TV. But it’s more than just being scared of what he got himself into. Donald Trump is positively miserable. He hates this shit! He doesn’t want to walk around getting a tour with Mitch McConnell. Nor does he want to sit at a boring table next to boring Paul Ryan and talk about boring things that aren’t Donald Trump. 

I don't know about you, but that rings true for me for what I know about Donald Trump.  He doesn't have the patience for this, and he will get tired of it soon.
