I changed jobs in April, and suddenly found myself teaching much younger students than I had been used to.  I had been teaching mostly teenagers in my old job, now I found myself teaching 6 and 7 year olds.
I immediately found that all my old activities and worksheets were out the window.  Not only was the English proficiency level of these students very low, but their 6-year-old attention span was severely limited.  I couldn't show them large chunks of a movie at a time and expect them to sit quietly through it.
There's a paradox here that I hadn't fully appreciated before with young children.  In terms of language acquisition, they are at an age when their language acquisition device would most fully benefit from plenty of rich, meaningful input.  However, they are also at a stage when their short attention span prevents them from focusing on that input for any length of time.
The challenge was then to find a way of still providing them with input, but keeping the input as short and easy as possible.
This Youtube video seemed like it could work.
I found it just by searching around Youtube, and I have no idea of who owns it or how it was put together.  My guess is that it was a collaborative project by a bunch of different teams initially as a bunch of separate videos, but someone later put them all together.  (That would explain why some of these same fairy tales get repeated.  It would also explain the difference in animation style between video to video.)  However the time duration and the difficulty of the language features are completely uniform throughout.  (All of them are tightly around 1-2 minutes, or less, and all of them feature very basic language.)
I'm also guessing this video was put together in Korea, based on how many Korean folk tales pop up in the anthology.  But they seem to have used native speaker voices.
The animation in these videos is not great, but.... it's not terrible either.  For a free video series posted on Youtube, you definitely can't complain.
The stories are of mixed quality.  (The better ones have a gag that pays off at the end in an identifiable punchline, but some of the less creative ones just meander for a couple minutes with no real point and then end.)
But for all its faults, my 6-7 year old students enjoyed it, it held their attention, and I generally consider it a success.  Recommended for young children.
The only real problem I had with it is that when we were halfway through watching it, the video disappeared from Youtube.  (We had been using this video here).   It's back up now, but it was down for a couple months.  I was able to find another Youtube site with the exact same video (this one here).  As a result, the links on the worksheets change about two third of the way through to the second Youtube channel.  As of this writing, however, they're both back working again.
(I'm not entirely sure which of the hosts, if either, is the true owner of this video.  I worry sometimes that it's owned by a 3rd party, and will get taken down from Youtube at some point in the future, and then I'll be stuck with all these worksheets that I'll never be able to re-use.  This thought has been enough to dissuade me from designing too much materials around Youtube videos in the future.)
[UPDATE OCTOBER 16, 2015: Okay, now it appears that both the Youtube videos linked to above are no longer working.  However, the same video has popped up at 3 different Youtube accounts: HERE, HERE, and HERE.  And at Daily Motion HERE.  I have no idea what is going on or why this video keeps appearing and then disappearing from Youtube.  The links on all my materials will no longer work now, so substitute in the any of the above links instead.  If those get taken down, do a Google search for English Short Stories For Kids - English Cartoon With English]

I've adjusted my movie worksheet format somewhat compared to what I used - to use.  For one thing, after reading The Lexical Approach by Michael Lewis*, I decided to emphasize vocabulary more.  Since these were low level students, I couldn't give them dictionary definitions of the vocab, but I used pictures.  (Consequently I could only do vocabulary that lent itself to visual representation.)
I first showed the vocabulary on a PowerPoint slide, then I played the video for the students.  Then I gave them a double-sided worksheet.  One side of the worksheet consisted of 5 simple sentences from the video, in which they had to match the word to the blank.  The second half was matching vocabulary to pictures.
After watching the video one time, I handed out the worksheet to the students, and then played the video a second time as they filled in the answers.  Then we went through the answers together in whole class feedback.
I created an answer sheet for each of the stories, but this was pretty much just for the sake of completeness, and didn't get used in class.  Instead we went over all the answers on the PowerPoint in class.
Below are all my worksheets for this video, including the appropriate times and links.  Uploading pictures is a bit of a pain on blogger, so I've included only the text when copying and pasting, but the pictures are all on the google docs version.  (None of the images are my own.  They are all images I found when searching google images.)
Initially I had the idea that I wouldn't repeat vocabulary previously covered on subsequent worksheets, but as we went on through the video, I began to bend this rule whenever I needed more vocabulary to make the worksheet longer, or whenever I thought it would be worthwhile to review.
*  I'm really, really, really behind on my book review project, but I will eventually review The Lexical Approach by Michael Lewis in a future post.
