(TESOL Worksheets--IELTS Task 1)
Cards: drive, docs, pub
Slap the board: drive, docs, pub
Text: docs, pub, Slideshow: slides, pub
So, this is another activity that is designed to supplement the IELTS Express textbook, but which I believe could also be used independently from that textbook, so I'm posting it here.
This comes from a lesson from the IELTS Express textbook on useful language for describing changes in a line graph for IELTS Writing Task 1. The images are all scanned directly from that lesson, and the language also comes from that lesson.
After scanning the images out of the book, I designed two games. The first is a standard find your partner game. I played this game twice with my class--once as a whole class game, and once in small groups, in which each group was given a set of cards and had to match them. This game is on Google here (drive, docs, pub), and embedded below.
The second game is a Slap game. The images are posted around the room. The students are divided into teams and given fly swatters. The teacher reads the useful language, and the students slap the image that corresponds to the useful language. This game is on Google here (drive, docs, pub), and embedded below.
Update: June 15, 2020
In order to put this language in context for the students, I've added the text from page 55 of IELTS express. Text: docs, pub, Slideshow: slides, pub
