Victober Bookshelf Scavenger Hunt Tag #victober (Better Late Than Never!)

The Victober Bookshelf Scavenger Hunt was created by Marissa ‪@BlatantlyBookish‬
The idea is we look on our shelves for books to fit the 10 prompts.

Tag Prompts

1. Tome Topper: Find the most massive, thickest, heaviest Victorian book on your shelves. (It’s up to you if you want to go by page count or simply by how much space it takes up on your shelves).

2. The Mourning Veil: Find a book bound in a dark, drab, somber color reminiscent of Victorian mourning attire (ideally something black, but gray, deep purple, or a very deep blue will suffice).

3. The Queen’s Cipher: Find a book where the first letter of the title begins with the letter V (for Victoria) or A (for Albert). Bonus points if the author's initials match.

4. The Madding Crowd: Find a cover showing a dense crowd, a busy street scene, or a group of three or more people.

5. The Illustrated Edition: Find a book containing interior illustrations, woodcuts, or decorative internal elements.

6. The East India Company:  Find a book that you acquired abroad, on vacation or when you weren't near home.

7. The Language of Flowers: Find a volume that features flowers, leaves, or botanical illustrations on the cover or spine.

8. The Penny Dreadful: Find either the cheapest looking and/or the most macabre looking book cover.

9. The Dandy's Aesthetic: Find a book with gold lettering, ornate decorations, or a strikingly vibrant colored spine.

10. The Curiosity Shop: Find an item sitting on the bookshelves that is not a book (a crystal, a vintage trinket, a feather, or a unique bookmark).
