  2. I just had a BRILLIANT idea of reading Harry Potter series again in Japanese. While I'm bored at work today I was chatting with AI which told me things I didn't remember. Those suggested Ron's sister seems to have a lot of tropes endearing in Japanese 2D culture (but actually given how popular HP is in Japan, the whole book is full of Japanese favourite tropes). The series had better seems really cute in Japanese.

  3. ...just checked through the English version and I have to take the plan back. Well, how it's written is worse than I remembered of it, but then again I almost never read its English version before. Quite something to say this but this seems to be the kind of series that read better in translation. Perhaps some day I will check the VN translation again to see if it's that or just me outgrowing this sort of book genre. I was just reminded of Pendragon, another series of teenager books I read some years ago - for a negative reason, as to open a Harry page is to find it hard not to think of how lucky Rowling was that some publisher accepted to publish her books.

[deleted was a comment related to Anna Karenina, it was something negative I no longer felt like letting it stayed - I surely have a lot of thoughts related, just not sure if I would talk about them some day]

  4. [And it's quite something to leave out constant spams. But, Part IV of Volume I is a masterpiece!]

  5. Sorry for the delayed response to this.
Was the Harry Potter series that badly written? I actually really enjoyed the first book when I returned to it a few years ago. As for the whole series, though, I can't remember it well enough to comment on the style.
Glad to hear that you're finding Anna Karenina to be worth your time. That's a book I definitely need to revisit.

  6. IDK it's like whenever I open the English original, it just doesn't seem to have the same charms as I read in translation (last read a decade ago though). Harry = essentially a children/YA series is something only glaring to me now.
