Learner Autonomy Discussion Questions

Google: drive, docs, pub
[This is a list of group discussion questions I made up for an IELTS preparation class.  The intent was to get them to recognize that the limited time they had in class would not fully prepare them for the IELTS test, and to encourage more learner autonomy.]

Group Discussion Questions
1. How much time do you spend studying in class every week?

2. How much time do you think you need to study every week to become fluent in English?

3. Are your answers to 1 and 2 the same?  If not, what does that mean you should do?

4. How good is your grammar?

5.  How much grammar practice do you do in the IELTS courses?

6. How can you study grammar outside of class?

7. How important is vocabulary in the IELTS test?

8. What are some ways you can learn vocabulary outside of class?

9. How important is world knowledge in the IELTS test?

10. What are some ways you can build up your knowledge of the world?

11.  What are some ways you can practice reading outside of class?

12  What are some ways you can practice listening outside of class?
