I knew from the DVD box that he was supposed to be in the movie somewhere, and I kept asking, "Now when is Alec Guinness going to show up?" It wasn't until after the movie finished and I went to wikipedia that I realized what his role had been.Joel Swagmanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14948746083822200906noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5940197.post-35695085539557409982010-08-23T07:22:17.241-04:002010-08-23T07:22:17.241-04:00The experience didn't spoil it at all, because...The experience didn't spoil it at all, because Forster really lets you inside the heads of the principle characters. I had a difficult time shaking the image of Alec Guinness as Godbole, however.Whisky Prajerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14076228013022881173noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5940197.post-3436688948244485072010-08-20T22:48:20.432-04:002010-08-20T22:48:20.432-04:00So you read the book after having seen the movie a...So you read the book after having seen the movie as well, huh? And it didn't spoil the reading of the book for you then?

Rest assured, it is on my list of books to read someday. Of course my reading list is so long, and my reading pace is so slow, that it could well be a few years before I get around to it.Joel Swagmanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14948746083822200906noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5940197.post-31212439543113134592010-08-20T07:21:38.265-04:002010-08-20T07:21:38.265-04:00It's probably been 20 years since I saw this m...It's probably been 20 years since I saw this movie, but I can recall having my patience tested by it. I read the book a year or two later, and was completely blown away. It probably helped that I was enduring a romance with a similar arc, but the central issue of 'mystery vs. muddle' really took hold of me as I read.

There is a scene in the movie, however, that is not in the book, which I thought was brilliant. Just a footnote for you, 'cos I hope you'll still give the book a try.Whisky Prajerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14076228013022881173noreply@blogger.com
